About Minare'26
MINARE is the Geo-Mining Festival of NIT Rourkela, launched in 2014 to provide students a platform for technical competition,learning, and interaction with industry and academia. It now attracts participants from leading national institutes and universities across India. Organized by the Mining Engineering Society (MES), a student-faculty-alumni body established in 1984, the fest promotes practical exposure and industry collaboration. Entering its 10th edition in 2026, MINARE will feature events such as mining robotics, mine design, case studies, workshops, expert talks and geoscience challenges, strengthening its role as a key student-driven mining festival in the country.
EVENTS
Case-Ore-inted
Case ore-iented is a dynamic event challenging participants with speculative mining scenarios to spark analytical thinking. Armed with the latest industry trends and expert guidance, attendees are set to uncover groundbreaking strategies, turning challenges into opportunities. Embark on this intellectual journey to reshape the future of mining.
Geobotics Challenge
Geobotics Challenge tests the robot-building skill of contestants. The bots will need to prove themselves on various mining-related challenges, decided by the judges. With the increase in the use of robots in the mining industry, this event tests the participants on their robot construction expertise.
Rock-On-Pap
Rock on Pap is an insightful paper presentation event where scholars present their technical research on mining-related topics. The event promotes showcasing innovations, methodologies, and research findings, advancing sustainable mining while fostering idea exchange and collaboration for academic and professional growth.
Ore-Acle-Quest
Ore-acle is a quiz quest where participants dive into the depths of the mining industry's core. This event challenges their industry knowledge and Contestants will navigate through intricate questions, sharpening their understanding and showcasing their expertise. A journey of intellect and discovery awaits in this engaging exploration of mining wisdom.
Surveyor’s Node
The Surveyor's Node Challenge is an exciting event where teams of 4-5 members compete to complete a survey task using the instruments provided. The performance will be judged based on efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to instructions. The team with the highest score, determined by the judges, will be crowned the winner.
Mine Workshop
Join us for an insightful workshop on emerging technologies in the mining sector. This workshop will showcase the latest innovations and technologies transforming the mining industry, providing participants with in-depth knowledge on cutting-edge tools and techniques.
Group Discussion
Participate to showcase your critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. Teams of two will engage in a dynamic discussion on a topic announced 15 minutes before Round 1. The top four teams will advance to the final round, where the best team will emerge victorious.
Mining Podcast
